Dr. Errol Samuels – Preparing to Serve: “Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled”

I will be going to Ethiopia to teach at the Adventist college, as well as doing missionary work, but I wanted to share how God has been good to me.

Several years ago, before I retired from teaching at a local university, there was a downsizing process being carried out. Several professors were being terminated and I was worried that I would be one of those to be let go. I recall walking through a door one day, and as I was about to go through it, I heard the following words in my mind: “Let not your heart be troubled.” (John 14:1) The words were crystal clear, and I knew that God was going to answer my prayer. I was not let go, and in fact rose to the position of Program Director for the graduate program. I truly believe that God answers.

I always begin my prayers by first thanking the Lord for the many blessings he has bestowed on me. I then ask that I may live a life that is worthy of His love and grace. I ask for help in continuing to worship and adore Him and that my faith may remain strong through thick and thin.

I ask His help that, in my own small way, I can help to spread His word and that in my daily walk I will display some of His qualities.
