Rachel Torres – Palau: “Art Therapy for Teachers”

I have a heart for art, and God seemed to bless me with 12 of the most creative and fun little people out there. They are always drawing things for me, making crafts for me, etc.

One day I was having an awful day. I hate to admit it, but I wasn’t really loving myself and I didn’t really feel love from anyone else…much less God. I was trying to fight my way through the day when one of my students came up to my desk and dropped off what looked to me like a little pile of lined paper. When I opened it up, it was a paper heart chain with the words, “God loves you, Mrs. Rachel” on it. Just like in the movies, tears flooded my eyes and I choked back a “thank you” and a smile. I gave her a big hug and felt entirely humbled.

I came to teach these students about God’s love, but sometimes, they are the ones that teach me.
