Adrienne Bohl – New Zealand

I am from a very small town in North Dakota with the population of 45 people. I have been attending Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska for the past 2 years. There I am majoring in Social Work and minoring in Psychology. I took a year off to become a Student Missionary because I wanted to get the experience of living in another country and to experience life in a different culture. It has always been my dream to be a Missionary for God. I took on the position of being an Assistant Dean at Longburn Adventist College in Palmerston North, New Zealand (little did I know what this role entitled). Coming here to New Zealand has taught me so much about people, myself, and life in general. I came wanting to be a missionary to my kids, but instead the people have been the missionaries to me. God has really opened my eyes and my way of thinking. Instead of being so narrow-minded with certain things, God has changed that. It hasn’t been an easy process to come to that conclusion. God is definitely reaching out to me through the people here (Kiwis) and the beautiful culture of New Zealand. This has been one of the scariest yet greatest decisions I’ve made. I cannot thank God enough because I know for a fact that He sent me here for a reason beyond what I imagined at the time. If you allow yourself to be open to what God has in store for you, you will walk away as totally different person.
